The tour highlights the role of the Silk Road in the development of Islamic art, particularly in Central Asia and Afghanistan. We look at how cultural, economic and intellectual encounters between different communities have influenced the artistic currents of the Islamic world along the Silk Road.
We also hear about how trade, travel, migration and the exchange of ideas, as well as the sharing of artistic traditions, have contributed to the development of the patterns, styles and expressions that we now refer to as Islamic art.
