Ever since childhood, Hammershøi was looking for something big. Today he is one of the most internationally renowned Danish artists, and his paintings with the quiet living rooms are sold for millions of kroner. In his contemporary, the mother pushed on with lofty ambitions, while audiences dismissed him as a peculiar loner. In collaboration with Augustinus Fonden, Louis-Hansens Fond, Beckett-Fonden, Ny Carlsberg Foundation and Danish museums, a new episode of the DR series Great Danish Artists about Vilhelm Hammershøi is presented.
